Learn about our mission, vision, and commitment to advancing biometric sciences in Kenya
Who We Are
The International Biometric Society (IBS) Kenya Chapter is a regional chapter of the International Biometric Society, dedicated to the advancement of biological science through the development of quantitative theories and the application, development and dissemination of effective mathematical and statistical techniques.
Our chapter brings together statisticians, mathematicians, biologists, and other scientists interested in the application of mathematical and statistical methods to biological and medical research in Kenya and the East African region.
We serve as a platform for professional development, networking, and knowledge sharing among our members, while contributing to the global biometric community's mission of advancing scientific research and practice.

Member of the International Biometric Society
As a proud regional chapter of the International Biometric Society, we are part of a global network of professionals dedicated to the advancement of biometry. Founded in 1947, the IBS promotes the development and application of statistical and mathematical theory and methods in the biosciences.
Our Mission
To promote the development and application of statistical and mathematical theory and methods in the biosciences, including agriculture, biomedical science, and ecology, among others, by fostering research, education, and practice in Kenya and East Africa.
Our Vision
To be the leading professional society for statisticians, mathematicians, and quantitative scientists in Kenya and the East African region, recognized for excellence in advancing biometric sciences and contributing to evidence-based decision making.
Our Core Values
Collaboration
We believe in the power of working together across disciplines and institutions.
Excellence
We strive for the highest standards in research, education, and professional practice.
Integrity
We uphold the highest ethical standards in all our activities and interactions.

What We Do
Promote Research
We facilitate cutting-edge research in biometry and related fields through collaborations, conferences, and publications.
Foster Education
We organize workshops, seminars, and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in statistical and mathematical methods.
Build Networks
We create opportunities for professionals to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on projects of mutual interest.
Advocate for the Field
We promote the importance of biometry and statistical thinking in addressing biological and health challenges in our region.
Our History
The IBS Kenya Chapter was established to serve the growing community of statisticians and quantitative scientists in Kenya and the broader East African region. Since our inception, we have grown to become a vibrant professional community.
Over the years, we have organized numerous conferences, workshops, and seminars that have brought together local and international experts. Our members have contributed significantly to research and practice in various fields including public health, agriculture, ecology, and clinical trials.
Today, we continue to expand our reach and impact, supporting the next generation of biometricians and contributing to evidence-based policy and practice in Kenya and beyond.
